School starts at four.
K-4 is four-year-old kindergarten. It is where reading begins, and where a fourteen-year runway to graduation starts in the same building with the same people.
Learning to read
Our youngest students work through the ABCs with Ace and Christi program — a full-year, phonics-based reading course. Children learn letters, sounds, and blending in a fixed sequence, with lots of repetition and lots of encouragement, until they are reading.
How readiness is assessed
Before a young child starts we look at readiness rather than birthday: can they hold a pencil, follow a two-step direction, sit for a short task, and separate from a parent comfortably. Placement testing tells us where to begin, and we adjust in the first weeks.
What the day looks like
Short work blocks and frequent movement. Opening exercises, letter and sound work, a snack and recess, story time, handwriting, numbers, and Bible. The younger the child, the shorter the block and the more hands-on the work.
Fourteen years, one building
A child who starts here at four can stay through twelfth grade with the same staff, in the same building, on the same model — no transition years, no starting over.
